Bye Bye Kina and Bas our moped…

28 Fepueli Falaite

Drove a little possie of teachers and Sister Kieoma to the airport to say our farewells to Kina, a teacher heading to the very south of the South Island of New Zealand for six months hospitality training on a scholarship. I suspect he/she is going to perish from the cold and has never been outside Tonga… what an adventure.we We picked up some roasted ‘ifi’ (chestnuts) on our way home.

Kina presented me with a beautiful HUGE fan with my name woven into it … along with some lovely local jewelry and a Tongan ‘tapa tie’  for Kotoni to say thank you for all we have done. It was very overwhelming as he/she is the one leaving!

Size is everything... thank you Kina!

Bas our moped has been sold and Ebonie and her new husband popped around to collect him. They happily putted off up the drive as the rain started… no problem as Tongan do love a good drenching! we were of course sad to see him go but what a wonderful wee beast he has been for us here in Tonga and now he will be transporting a Tongan lady and a New Caledonian bloke. A good day where again everyone wins.

Bye bye Bas...we miss you already!
